Deirdre Chiaramonte, DVM, Diplomate ACVIM, CCRT, CVA is a Diplomat of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and is certified in canine rehabilitation and acupuncture. She is a member of the AKC Canine Health Foundation Grants Committee, Delta Society Advisory Board, and the immediate past president of The New York City Veterinary Medical Association. She lectures nationally on her impassioned interests of rehabilitation, pain management, and geriatrics.
Frank Russo oversees the company’s day-to-day management functions. As a senior member of the Assisi team, he plays a key role in managing the business and “keeping a tight leash” on the strategic course of the company. His career in life sciences began with the Wilkerson Group in the early 1990s. Since then, Mr. Russo served as investor, senior executive and consultant for a number of healthcare-related businesses. He has served as Founding Chairman and Director of Gilda’s Club, a not-for-profit organization providing social and emotional support to people living with cancer. Mr. Russo joined Assisi in December 2013, when the business acquired the rights to the Assisi Loop for the veterinary marketplace from Ivivi Health Sciences. He studied chemical engineering and holds BS and MS degrees in Management from MIT.
John Wilkerson has spent a lifetime in life sciences. From his early days at Johnson & Johnson, to his healthcare consulting firm, The Wilkerson Group, acquired by IBM in 1998, to his co-founding of Galen Partners, a healthcare equity investing firm, the focus has been healthcare. Wilkerson acquired the distribution right to Assisi Animal Health in late 2013 while serving on the board of Ivivi Health Sciences and his focus has shifted from human to animal health. Outside Assisi, John is a managing director of Galen Partners and sits on the National board of the Smithsonian Institute and the Johns Hopkins Berman Institute for Bioethics. He is an avid art collector with a particular interest in Aboriginal Indigenous Art. Currently, his life is ruled by an English Cocker.
Dr. Judy Korman, VMD, MBA has dedicated her career to pursuing her passion for both veterinary medicine and business. In 1987, she graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine and received her MBA from The Wharton School of Management one year later. Dr. Korman has over a decade of experience helping medical product companies to formulate and successfully implement product development, commercialization and marketing strategies. Her clients included several of the top10 pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical companies as well as many large and small biotechnology companies, start-ups and medical device companies focused on animal and human health. In addition, Dr. Korman performed and managed numerous due diligence evaluations of healthcare products and companies for financial institutions and industry participants interested in mergers and acquisitions. She is excited to be working with Assisi to help meet the medical needs of animals with innovative and novel therapies.
Dr. Korman has been a veterinarian for over a quarter of a century. Most recently she founded and operated a mobile, house call practice in the Carolinas serving pets and their owners from the comfort of their home. In her spare time, Dr. Korman enjoys training and competing with her dogs in the rapidly growing sport of dog agility.
Karolynne McAteer has worked with Messrs. Wilkerson and Russo for over two decades working exclusively on human health. Karolynne is a writer, focusing on sporting dogs in particular, and is an Irish Setter breeder, AKC Delegate for her breed and a judge of the sporting group. She is delighted to join Assisi Animal Health and spend her time on one of her passions, dogs!! Inside the company, Karolynne considers herself the voice of the pet owner.
